E(verett) Lowell Kelly (November 15, 1905 – January 19, 1986) was an American clinical psychologist and a past president of the American Psychological Association (APA). ==Biography== At the University of Michigan, Kelly was a professor and the director of the Institute for Human Adjustment. Much of his work focused on marital compatibility. He testified in the Massie Trial and served as an advisor or consultant to several organizations, including the Educational Testing Service, the National Selective Service, the Veterans Administration, the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and the Agency for International Development. He also directed the selection division of the Peace Corps.〔 During World War II, Kelly was credited with discovering a common cause of military aviation crashes. When a second tail light was added to military planes, a pilot could better judge the distance of another plane up ahead.
